Dr. Andrew Shaul


Dr. Andrew Shaw recieved his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University in 1993. He is currently employed part time at the University Counselling Centre, where he provides counselling for university students and supervise graduate student interns as part of their clinical training. He is also a member of the teaching faculty in the Psychology Department at York University, where he has taught a variety of undergraduate psychology courses for the past 10 years. Prior to teaching at the university, he taught for several years at community college.

In addition to his counselling and lecturing at York University, Dr. Shaul maintains a private practice where he conducts assessments and psychotherapy with a diverse population of individuals, couples and groups. Through his practice he has gained insight into common concerns facing most people today. He has developed particular expertise on dealing with people who have difficulty coping with physical injuries and pain. For several several years, he consulted to a series of sports medicine clinics where he designed a treatment program and supervised a team of counsellors working in the area of rehabilitation. This experience helped him to gain an understanding of the intimate connection between mind and body, helping people to access the healing power of their mind.

As an adjunct to his private psychotherapy practice, Dr. Shaul has given lectures and conducted workshops in both the private sector and public domain. workshops topics have included Stress Management, Work-Life Balancing, Anger Management and Conflict Resolution. His Clients have included Royal Bank, ClearNET, Oshawa General Hospital, Canadian Diabetic Association, York University, Royal Trust,Ajax Town Office, Bernard Betel Centre and the Ontario Association of Children Aid Societies.

Dr. Shaul is married with three children and enjoys several hobbies including art, photography, hockey and basketball.
